If I could give this review a "negative star rating", I would. This is the worst hospital experience I've ever had. I could tell that one of the staff members was at witts end. This member look to be ran down and frustrated. I've been around a lot of employees of various companies and it's clear as day that these folks are severely under paid and burnt out. I can't imagine what would happened if malpractice and/or negligence was perform due to low morale. I would sue them for every dime that I could. Although, this particular staff member was very helpful and very nice, you could tell that the employee was putting on a fake smile for me. This staff member was not at all happy with their job. If this staff member is reading this, LEAVE THIS HOSPITAL NOW!! Go and work for Winn Med in Decorah or even Mayo Clinic in Rochester. I hear that they pay much better and you're not overworked. Life is too short to be miserable. Good luck to you. - Angry Patient

I found out I had an abscess today between my legs. It was infected and very painful. I currently live in Le Roy, MN. Regional Health Services of Howard County was the closest hospital to me. I can tell you that the staff and Doctors where fantastic. Everybody was very friendly and helpful. The Doctors were very educational and took the time to explain to me what was going on. I highly recommend Regional Health Services of Howard County. I haven't been admitted to many hospitals, though I visited with other friends and family. Regional Health Services of Howard County is tops. Thank you!

This was one of the most positive emergency room experiences I have ever had. After falling off a ladder, I called the hospital to confirm availability of an emergency room, giving them just a couple of details. To my surprise, when I arrived, I was met in the parking lot by EMS personnel and a nurse. Upon entering, I received X-rays, a diagnosis with detailed instructions, and was discharged within two hours. While the experience might differ on a busier night, this particular visit was exceptional. The staff were both friendly and professional throughout. I am glad I chose this over a larger hospital where I most likely would have been waiting for a long time just to get in.

I think this health system should do more to keep good doctors. Dr. K Thomas was the best provider at RHSHC, and I feel she was pushed out due to an unsupportive community.

Very concerning billing practices for a nonprofit hospital. I was never clearly informed that my account had been automatically enrolled in electronic billing, and I never received any paper bills or clear notification that there was a balance due. The first time I became aware of the alleged balance was when the account had already been sent to an outside collection agency and legal collection action had begun. No patient should discover a medical bill for the first time through external collections or legal threats. For a hospital operating as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, this raises serious concerns about billing transparency and patient notification practices. Nonprofit hospitals are expected to make reasonable efforts to notify patients about balances and give them a fair opportunity to resolve them before escalating accounts to outside collections. Automatically enrolling patients in electronic billing without clearly confirming patients are aware of it, and then pursuing external collection action without confirmed delivery of billing notices, creates a serious risk that patients will never even know a bill exists. If this is happening to other patients, it raises broader concerns about whether the hospital’s billing and collection practices are fully consistent with the standards expected of a tax-exempt nonprofit healthcare provider. I strongly encourage hospital leadership to review these policies so other patients are not placed into collections without ever being properly notified of a balance.
