I have been to the Registered of Will two times now since opening up an estate in Bucks County and I was really impressed on how the staff was attentative to each and every person who came to the window, even when they were working with someone else. They would at least address the person and tell them they would be with them shortly. If there were people waiting, staff from the back would come out and start the process of helping them. It's like no other experience I have ever had at a government agency. Kudos to that office! I would like to also give a special shout out to the Frist Deputy Doug, who processed my initial petition. He really was super informative and put me at ease and explained things in a way that made me feel good about the process. All the staff was eager to help and for that I am thankful.

Highly disappointing. I am a records manager in a client-facing position, who does not usually have to speak with our stakeholders about records connected to the deaths of loved ones, and I always endeavor to approach conversations with calm, understanding, and overall, competence. That was not my experience with the Bucks County Register of Wills, which recently rejected my probate application as my father's executor. I learned from their staff that the Office rejects about 50% of probate applications, mostly but not exclusively for wills drawn up without legal representation. So, if you have the money, and are able to hire an estate lawyer to probate even a straightforward will that ostensibly would not be challenged, you're in luck. If you do not, or are the executor/primary heir/next of kin and did not see any reason to hire a lawyer because the will is written clearly, signed, witnessed, and notarized, be prepared to be caught out on technicalities. It's especially a shame because my recently deceased father served with his local police department in Bucks County for thirty years, and the friends who witnessed his will --- signed while my father was in hospice care, two days before his passing, albeit incorrectly, apparently, according to the Register of Wills Office --- were also long-time veterans of the force, and are still active members of their communities. Apparently three retired cops' written testimony that this will is valid doesn't mean much. (Of course, you shouldn't have to be a veteran police officer to be believed.) I am looking forward to completing the new paperwork the Register of Wills Office is now requiring, and resolving this probate case as quickly as possible.

I had the privilege to meet with Mr. Terence Lee from your Department after the passing of my Mother and needed assistance / guidance a few weeks ago regarding gaining access to Mom's accounts. I wish to thank Mr. Lee for his kindness, candor, compassion and professionalism during my difficult time. His advice and assistance was God sent and extremely helpful. Just the other day, I finally had time to visit Mom's bank to address and close her account. The email and copy of the PA Statute document Mr. Lee had shared/provided immediately set the tone for the meeting and the account was easily closed and surrendered to me. I sensed had I not had that, they would have guided me wrong again. I am now able to move on, solely thanks to you and your knowledge, expertise and candor. I went to the administration building today for business and I saw a table full of treats. I, of course had to stop. When I was looking I saw that the Register of Wills was holding a bake sale for something they call Vows for Veterans to cover the costs of the wedding for veterans. The girls were so nice and the treats were delicious. They informed me on what their office does and told me how to get the department I had original came for.
