Today the Meriden dept of health inspected my car seat and helped install for the second time! Always easy to call and quick to get in. I drive all the way from Hamden due to nowhere local to here ever answers the phone or calls back. Highly recommend!

Moved to Meriden mid school year. The head nurse from the health department refused to allow my children into school claiming they were not up to date on vaccines. Ran around looking for a Dr accepting new patients in a rush, only to find out that they were indeed up to date (like I said by looking at their charts) and she was very snobby after that.

The Meriden Health Department is a city department that I can say that does its job. I had an insect problem in my apartment and I informed them. Lo and behold my landlord was under pressure by the city to rectify this issue not just at the earliest convenience but NOW!!!! I've got to admit that I wasn't expecting this kind of response from a government department. They didn't just start the process and leave it alone they followed up on my complaint not once but 4 times following the initial complaint. So, due to the Health Department due diligence I'm glad to say I am bug free and continuing to be, yes that's thanks to my landlord but the the Health department made sure that the job was done correctly. If you have an issue that is in the wheelhouse of the Department don't hesitate to call them thinking that they won't fight for your health and hygiene trust me, from my experience they are staffed by personnel that take the job very seriously. I'm impressed by whom ever put in place these excellent staff that care about the job they come to in the morning everyday. To the staff of The Meriden Health Department you do your jobs above and beyond the call of duty, thank you for your service to all of us the citizens of Meriden Connecticut were lucky to have you, all of you deserve recognition for your outstanding and very difficult job that you do.

Today Liz was helpful. The nurse unfortunately was not. Refusing to believe that I was adequately prepared with ALL necessary paperwork and forms complete (including health forms for asthma and allergies). Having recently gone and had my son’s physical just last week, confirming all requirements are met regarding shots and lead screening, she was determined to find a hiccup in it’s accuracy. Saying he didn’t have a 2nd part of a shot required to register but in fact he wouldn’t have been able to register for pre-K within the district had he not received it. It wasn’t until Liz took it upon herself to call the school nurse and ask which she then kindly confirmed and gave the dates administered from registration forms for Pre-k. Once that was done they both said I was all set and registered. Only to go home to find a message from the nurse asking me to return because the needle me to fill out another for for his allergies!!!! What! Unbelievable right? No. I go back to fill out her forms that she should have supplied me with once I arrived and especially after she’s seen my sons allergy forms from the doctor, her response was not an apology but rather “tell your doctor to date your physical for August so that the form would carry into summer school.” Wait what!!!! Inappropriate on every level! What is wrong with her? So now my kindergarten child will be in summer school? If anyone from DOH is reading this pls have a conversation with your nurses on proper etiquette and possibly a review on what is appropriate dialog and not.

So I received “supposedly” warnings to remove trash and bulky waste from my property…… well I removed a ton of it as the street right next to me not even 100’ gets FREE GARBAGE REMOVAL but zoning says I don’t!!!! Anyway I can barely afford food let alone garbage removal so I do what I can… anyway I got rid of a lot of the garbage in fact only thing left was 2 bags garbage and 2 bags of clothes that needed to go to a goodwill….. which by the way Jennifer, the RS of the Health board didn’t even bother to check in fact she didn’t look at any part of the garbage and had never been to my house as far as this citation or violation is concerned she was there to look for burrow holes for rodents and rats which by the way she found none zero I was very stern with her as I have a right to be and I get a $350 fine saying that I failed to rectify any of the concerns in the initial warning first of all how would she know if anything was rectified seeing as she never came to check my house. secondly she says bulky waste and garbage in the front by the gate there’s a lot of stuff which is I’m trying to get a lot of stuff together to go into a dumpster either way she find me $350 saying that I failed to rectify any of the concerns listed well she has no idea whether I try to rectify any of the concerns listed as she has not come to my house before Jennifer. It is horrible that you do your job based on emotion. You were obviously intimidated by me and upset so fine which obviously I’m going to so horrible even though she said that I had two weeks to rectify that she would be back in two weeks. Let’s also make it clear that she’s speaking about the backyard, which is completely fenced in by an 8 foot solid white fence, which cannot be considered in Clearview
