I would like to make a formal complaint of an elected official, I was laughed at when I requested my court costs monies to be refunded due to a case that was settled out of court. When I requested to speak to a supervisor she told me she was an elected official and that the tax payers are her superiors, I am one of those a tax payer, and I voted for her, she treated me with no dignity, and made me feel degraded, I am a retired housewife, with a disabled husband, living on a fixed income. I was assisting my son with his case, by paying the court costs like I was told to do thru this office.. I called while Miss Van Valey was out till the mid week, and was told by her office staff that I can speak to her and she would see if I was able to get the funds refunded. When I did get a hold of the elected official I was treated disrespectfully, and laughed at when I asked why could I not get the monies back, She told me it goes to the courts. I understand that the may be the procedure, but there was no court. I also was told I had to pay the court cost in order to get a court date. I am an upstanding citizen, never involved in court proceedings , and was just asking if I could get my monies since we settled out of court. I cannot understand why her office staff would tell me to contact Miss Van Valey, if she was not able to assist me. and have me thinking I would be able to recoup that money, I was shocked when Miss Van Valey asked me who the office staff was that told me that information. I would think that the staff was knowledgeable of any procedures that ran thru that office . signed a very upset tax payer.....
