Our nations Capital has the worst DOH in ALL the country! First, you can not go into this facility, everything is done online and forgettably slow. I guess we can thank our very good Mayor lol, who can't do her job at all!!! You will have to follow up constantly about anything you apply for online. Terrible workers and management! I have several employees trying to get their food license, in any other state you would get this same day but Instead, in DC they will write you a very pointed EMAIL about how they have 30 days by law to get you this certificate after they take your money!!!!!! So glad their not getting paid right now during this government shutdown, they don't deserve a dime ever!

I am a nursing student. I applied to take my CNA exam on May 12,2025. My application is only pending because of DC Department of Health It is now December 8, 2025, I email and call almost everyday, with no response at all. I can’t go down to the office cause of my school and work schedule.

I had a pretty horrible experience with the Dept. of Health, particularly with the licensing board. They do not return phone calls, are very rude when they do actually answer the phone, when you are waiting at the window to talk to someone they carry on side personal conversations and leave you waiting long times, they are very short with you, and give you attitude when you ask for more information. I don’t appreciate being talked down to when I’m trying to get my license here and I’m new to the District. Your laws and policies are very different here from anywhere else and they should recognize that and be more patient. I hope 🤞🏾 never have to deal with them again, but I know I will. Ugh!

I have never be shamed and discriminated in my entire life until I called the DC board of nursing and followed the prompt and was directed to the Nursing Assistant help line.. before my phone call I have submitted my application for my license to be reciprocated from MD to DC Feb 18 2026 I did my finger print and background on Feb 20 and TNC and my details was already sent to the board of nursing.. today is April 2 2026 prior to this day I have sent an email to the Dc BON requesting for details why my license is still pending I never got a reply. I called today April 2 I had the worst experience of my life. The Rep. who took my call was a female and was totally rude after much conversation she said I just approved it and Hangup on me. Few minutes later I got an email requesting me to do my finger print that was already done Feb 20 and paid for.. So I called them back and I was routed back to same lady then she told me she don’t handle GNA and I asked why but I was routed to you following the procedure and options that she handles it , then she gave me a number to call to direct my issues to and each time I call this number it goes straight to voicemail.. wow I can’t believe this really happened to ME.. what a disgrace May the universe raise better humans to replace this workers and stop this pain you are causing to people

I submitted my paperwork on August 27, 2025, to renew my Home Health Aide license, and was told the process would take about 30 days. It has now been over 45 days, and I still haven’t received any updates. I’ve reached out multiple times through calls and emails, but no one responds or provides any information. This experience has been extremely frustrating and unprofessional, especially for a government agency that people depend on for their livelihoods. The lack of communication and accountability is overwhelming, and I hope the Department improves its responsiveness and processing times for future applicants.
