Not going to lie I was a bit worried going here for the first time after reading the reviews haha. It was great. Staff was nice and prompt. The woman who helped me made sure everything was updated for me and even made small talk with my daughter while I filled out paperwork. We were in and out in under 10 minutes.

If you are planning on showing up to the Clerk's office late in the day, then don't. They close earlier then the closing times listed so they will turn you away if you get there too close to the 4:30 listed closing time.

I’ve been going here for 15 years and both ladies there are very rude and unpleasant to deal with. Debbie is miserable all the time and will not go out of her way to suggest tips or really help with much at all. Sometimes I can get questions answered but usually it’s a hassle. Nothing but sighs and groans about doing their job. Questions they should know after 25+ years of working there, are often answered with head shaking and laughing in your face like I should know the answer even though it’s there job… the only reason I go is so that I don’t have to go to concord and wait in the long lines. I only gave 1 star because eventually I can get my stuff registered. Sometimes after they say they need more paper work and I come back with it , they realize they messed up and they didn’t need additional paperwork… unprofessional, rude, miserable, lazy, and grumpy old ladies that don’t want to do their job is what I would describe my experiences there. I can’t wait until they retire/get out of their positions because I honestly don’t think there could be worse people in their spots. It’s amazing that they are even still working there and not fired.

I visited the Hillsboro town clerk's office this afternoon around 4:15 PM, shortly before closing time, with all the necessary paperwork for a new registration. Before entering, someone in a car outside rolled down their window to warn me that the staff inside was not very friendly — a warning I soon found to be accurate. Upon entering, I was met not with kindness but with agitation and rudeness. The clerk handling my registration was hostile and extremely short with me, despite my preparedness and having all required documentation. When I inquired about registering to vote, she curtly informed me that she would not be doing that today, although it was only 4:20 PM, and their office was NOT closed. As a member of this community who grew up in Hillsboro, I am extremely disappointed to witness such unprofessional and rude behavior from town officials. While I understand that having a customer arrive near closing time can be frustrating, it is the responsibility of public-facing employees to treat people with respect and professionalism. Extremely disappointed in this experience.

Horrible staff. Old ladies behind the counter need to retire. On major power trips.
