The workers in the assistance program office are truly some of the worst human beings I've ever met. I've been treated fairly badly by workers in this department; they don't answer question, are willy-nilly with your privacy (asking you to announce your SSDI number) and treat you as if you are the lowest peon to them, and how dare you bother them with your little peasant problems.

These are the rudest, sniddest, most condescending people on this planet. They love to talk down to you and treat you like dirt. All the mean girls from your high school got jobs here. If they can find a way to treat you badly they will. They will say ableist talking points, they will make cruel comments, and they will roll their eyes at you. They don't care about your situation. And they seem to get off on treating you like gum underneath their shoe.

I'm lucky because the aging specialist I have is wonderful and I've been with him for 4 years. He goes out of his way to help me sometimes and it's so appreciated.

Johnson County DHS has been a nightmare to deal with, specifically Amy Powell. Long story short my child has various mental health issues and instead of doing what's in the child's best interest the only concern of this woman and the many case workers we had was the best interest of the mother. The bias and incompetence from this office is legendary for all the wrong reasons. They intentionally lied to the judge by omission of important details that reflected negatively on the mother. Excluded my children from an investigation to benefit the mother and prevent me from having access to the records for the investigation. The list goes on and on. The entire Johnson County system needs reformed, it was 4-5+ years of nightmares with these people.
