I have never experienced anything but absolutely outstanding care at KRHC! We chose KRHC as our hospital/provider when we found out we were expecting our first child almost 12 years ago. Dr. Owen treated us then as if we were old friends he had known forever and was absolutely amazing at reassuring all of our first time parent anxieties and saw us through her delivery. We continued our family's healthcare at KRHC after her birth and there was no question who we were going to see when we found out we were expecting our second baby a few years later and again continued to doctor here. Nearly 9 Years later we found out were expecting our 3rd baby and again Dr. Owen and everyone at KRHC was there for us providing the same exceptional care! It's not everywhere that you are cared for by someone and they remember you years later as was the case for us recently. We were at the clinic with our newborn daughter for a check up last week and sat down in the waiting room and the woman sitting next to us told us she was the nurse who was with us when we welcomed our first baby into the world! We'd never forgotten her but I could not believe she still remembered us! Being treated like friends and family at KRHC makes every encounter exceptional and I know that kind of personal attention and care is what makes it easier to get better as well as maintain our own health! We are blessed to have KRHC right here in Algona!

I begged for years to get my yearly female exams. Never got one. No one paid any attention. Moved away when husband retired and was diagnosed with uterine cancer.

My personal experiences with the hospital and clinic have been just fine, but how many people need to submit complains about Dr. Owen before you do something? He genuinely does not seem to care about the well being of his patients. If a patient admitted to you that they were a functioning alcoholic and having trouble sleeping, do you think that doctor should then give that alcoholic an Ambien prescription? Would you expect Dr. Owen to know that alcohol and Ambien is an addictive and potentially lethal combo? I would expect him to know. I would expect the Hippocratic oath to be the bottom bar here.

KRHC Clinic and Pharmacy believe they are above state and federal regulations when it comes to health care practices. No medical records kept for employees who just talk to a doctor they work with to get scripts written for themselves and family members. When asked to have access to my child’s medical records they said they couldn’t because of HIPPA, which is inaccurate for my child. Turns out they “couldn’t” because there is no record of “on-call” doctoring noting my child’s medical file or of the prescription. Pharmacy fills prescriptions without verifying addresses of patient, going against Iowa Admin. Code 657—6.13. Pharmacy and manager are on probation with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy currently.
