Couldn’t be more thankful for the amazing birth experience I had. The nurses and doctors are genuinely the best. Dr. Goodejohn provided me with so much peace throughout my entire high risk pregnancy, L&D, & am extremely blessed she delivered my baby.. Dr. Summers is just as great & is very calm & reassuring. Nurses are very respectful and go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable, are very respectful about coming in for checks throughout the night, and privacy. Couldn’t recommend a better place all around!!!

Dr Smith… you are the real deal! I think it’s important to let establishments know when you have had a bad experience in their care. EQUALLY (if not more important) I believe our good Dr.’s do not get as much “press time” as negative ones do! Here’s the deal… Feb. 2026 I needed kidney surgery. After a couple previous appointments with other Drs in Iowa City, I decided to go with a local recommendation. I had a preliminary (and 1st time w/him) appointment with Dr A Smith. I left that appointment with 100% satisfaction. I had every question answered, every anxious thought calmed, every scenario gone through with a complete back up plan. I didn’t feel rushed (almost 2 hours). It wasn’t a “we are doing this”… it was more like a conversation, him listening to me… me listening to him and concluding a path to proceed. We were on the same page! AWE-MAZING! Then, surgery day. He met with me before I went back to the operating room. He had 3 solid plans… A, B, & C! Each detailed so as I understood exactly what was in store. 7 hour surgery …NO SURPRISES! He did his homework!!! My hospital stay was REALLY good with nurses, all staff really, very compassionate and accommodating! I want to mention that Dr Smith had a team of surgeons helping him. Here is a shout out to Dr Riggs and Dr Kollmorgon! You are appreciated, thank you! 3 days in the hospital and well enough to go home! WOW! I want to conclude… over the years I have learned to “hand pick” all my Drs. It is so so so important to me to be able to have a comfortable HONEST relationship with each one. I need ones where our personalities mesh, where my fears are conquered and that will pray with and for me! Mahaska Health you have the best of the best in Dr Smith! He is a rock-star! Dr Smith…. To you I can only humbly say “thank you”! And, welcome to my “small, yet top of the line Drs in my village”! I seriously would not have chosen anyone else to do this task! I AM BLESSED!! God Speed! I am so glad I moved all my care here. Every time I come in, everyone helps me. The volunteers, receptions, lab techs, radiology techs, CT techs, my doctors. I would be lost without these people. They listen and have given my hope back. As I say healthcare is not a one size fits all. It's a partnership. Just to be heard and taken seriously, huge. I let them know how much I appreciate them. Thank you

Mahaska Health provided excellent care during my husband’s surgery, and everyone we interacted with was kind, capable, and attentive. When our car broke down the day before, a hospital employee who had just finished her shift noticed our situation and helped us get the vehicle safely into a parking spot. After my husband’s surgery the next day, a member of the admissions team went out of her way to arrange transportation for us without us even asking. Those thoughtful gestures made a stressful time so much easier. We’re truly grateful for the care and kindness we received.
