Stopped by the circuit court office to drop off some paperwork for my Daughter who recently moved out of the state. I was met by the judges Administrator Beth. Her behavior (rude inpatient, and condescending) went beyond just the average “bad day”. This employee is definitely lacking in customer service skills and it’s unfortunate that citizens have to tolerate such behavior when simply trying to conduct business. Very disappointing.

Totally wasted my wifes last couple years over 30 court appearances for a BS DUI that was from her eating a gummy the day before and when a Mexican toddler rode his push toy out in front of her she instantly stopped and the child didn't even have a scratch 30 appearances in just over 3 years that of which I'd say 95% was her waiting for hours sitting the courthouse for them to tell her she didnt have to be there my wife was on dialysis and her worthless court appointed lawyer refused to do his job and get her the discovery for her new lawyer she was trying to hire and she had her last court appearance on August 25th to finalize it she was extremely sick that day she was supposed to be at dialysis that day but her lawyer Paul Stankcos told her she couldn't miss it so she went after passing out once prior to going to the courthouse passed out again at the courthouse and then ultimately passing away at the probation office where they did absolutley nothing to help her it took over an hour for an ambulance to get to the probation office.

I had a very negative experience with Marshall County Court, and honestly, it confirmed for me that this system is still very backwards in how it treats people. From the moment I walked in, I felt uncomfortable. I know exactly how metal detectors work, and I placed all of my belongings through security, including my purse. Even after doing that, the person working security kept repeatedly asking me if I had any weapons. It was excessive, unnecessary, and strange. The gag is, I do not even own a gun. At that point, it absolutely felt like bias was showing, and yes, racism crossed my mind. The overall environment felt outdated, unwelcoming, and lacking basic fairness. This county, along with local highway police, seems to still operate with a very old-school and backward mindset. There also seems to be little to no consideration for people coming from out of town. Accommodations could be made, but instead it feels like unnecessary barriers are put in place. If your case is important and you have the means, get an attorney. Seriously. Because from what I experienced, even when very little evidence is presented, defendants do not seem to get the benefit of the doubt. The current traffic court judge, who is also the former prosecutor, does not come across as neutral, and that alone raises concerns. And yes, I am going to say this too: the political culture around that courthouse is hard to ignore. The main prosecutor’s public politics seem to line up with the kind of atmosphere and treatment people are receiving, and that says a lot. Looking through previous reviews, I also noticed that people from different backgrounds seem to be making many of the same complaints, which only confirmed for me that my experience was not isolated. Overall, I left with serious concerns about bias, fairness, and professionalism. I would not recommend going in there unprepared, and I definitely would not expect much empathy or neutrality from the system.
