Traveled to Ada from Bemidji, MN so that my teen could take her driving test, as here in town, the wait list is months long. Once she passed the driving test, the female instructor told us that we would have to come back to Ada, again, or head to Detroit Lakes to get her actual license at a later date because we were missing a parent's instruction class document, which needed to come from her permit training class in Park Rapids. The document had not been sent to us prior to all of this, so we needed to head home and request this document. After receiving the proof from Park Rapids that my husband and I had indeed taken the parent's training class, my daughter and I headed to DL because it is closer than Ada. In DL, the staff of the Driver's Services Center was incredibly nice to us, which was a stark contrast to how we were treated in Ada, NN. However, no matter how hard they tried, they could not pull up my daughter's proof of having passed her driving test in Ada. After a long wait and many phone calls on their behalf, the staff found out that the driving instructor in Ada had locked our daughter's record in her computer system. At this point, we could only hope that when we were directed to the main government building in DL, that they would be able to unlock my daughter's test in their system. Thank Goodness, they were able to gain access to the proof that my daughter had passed her driver's test from their computers at this government building! Now, after using multiple cities and travel to help my daughter obtain her driver's license from start to finish, we had Finally succeeded with the help of officials in DL. This was a pain-staking process, one that could have been much-less so. In the end, we found out from the professionals in DL that if the female driving instructor in Ada had not locked our daughter's record of having passed the test in Ada, MN; we would have been able to finish the process of getting her license right here in Bemidji. Moral of this story, the driving instructor in Ada was rude, short with us, unhelpful, and had personally taken it upon herself to send us on a wild goose chase. None of the professionals in DL could understand this. It was simply unfair and caused us a great deal of anxiety.
