Good luck renewing the registration on your car if you work Monday through Friday a half hour away and work until 4pm. Got there at 435pm no one in line no one at any of the three open windows and still wouldn’t do it for me.

I moved to Salem, NH, July of 2021. I've been to the Salem Town Hall three or four times since then. Never have I ever had any issues. Everybody there is friendly, helpful, and obviously very knowledgeable. Just today I went there to simply get my town dump sticker renewed. Salem Town Hall reminded me that I could also renew my registration even though it wasn't due until November - because it is in the time frame. BONUS! So I don't have to come back in November nor do I have to do it online. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. SOOOOO thankful 🙂👍

I wanted to take a sofa to the town tranfer station. When you go to the website, it takes you to a generic city of Salem web page. So there are no instructions on what to do. I take the old sofa down to the transfer station during open hours and the guy at the gate tells me I need a permit from city hall! Which is closed until Monday. How ridiculous is that? Windham sells their permit stickers at the transfer station! And Rochester (where I moved from) just needs to see proof of residency, no permit required. Now I have nowhere to take this Sofa. What an incompetent system. Not to mention the guy at the gate was rude and not helpful. He just chuckled and closed his window. What an incompetent system.

Absolutely criminal car registration prices. You might as well live in MA and pay taxes. Also it’s cheaper to buy new license plates for a new car than to transfer plates from your old car. What a waste. No logic here.

Tried calling both numbers to set up an appointment to apply for a marriage license, both lines no answer so we go up to NH since the website says they accept walk ins. We get there and the lady at the window asked if we have an appointment, got turned away and told to call tomorrow. I keep getting stuck in this same loop of no one answering, my fiancé is military and finally had one day where he left work early, he can’t just take a day off sporadically (why I’ve been trying to call for about a week now no answer every time) Someone needs to update the website if they don’t actually accept walk ins.
