I see feedback that marriage licenses are handled well, unfortunately I've had the exact opposite experience with land deed, passports and other recordings. Staff tends to pretend to not know what to do, only to correct you as soon as you try to do it. Casual or even professional conversation etiquette is lost at this office. You ask a question and staff will randomly walk away not saying a word only to return minutes later with some other piece of paper. You are told to fill out forms completely, only to be asked why you filled them out completely. They add fines if you dont follow their templates, which they cant provide. And quite honestly I dont care about the fines, its the assumption that I'm going to spend my entire day getting notary, legal opinions, etc, so they can have an 1" more margin, or a number added here or there that they absolutely know the answer too. The county treasurer's office next door is always great, helpful, and happy to share what needs to be done to complete a task, the recorder prefers to play dumb and takes enjoyment out of correcting you when you are guessing at their rules. Try being more helpful. People dont know your rules and are trying to get things done, stop being a hinderance.
