Small town (possible) corruption. Enough said. I would advise anyone living in or traveling to/through this county to ensure that they record everything. Have a dash cam, ensure the officer activates their dash and body cam, and for the love of God just avoid this county all together. I was traveling through this county and got pulled over for doing 55 in a 55. Cop said I was doing 79. Request for dash cam and body cam for this incident was "not available". I went to court to fight and was not even given a chance to plead my case, much less enter a not-guilty plea. Instead I was given the option to pay the fines with points on my license, or take a driver's safety course to negate the points. I chose course. Well as it turns out the driver safety course is owned and operated by the previous Sheriff, and the class is just 45 minutes of literally nothing but watching a video. Every bit of this process was extremely suspect and a carbon copy of the typical "good ole boys" atmosphere. I also wanted to point out that I was in a company vehicle that tracks my speed at all times, and at no point in my drive did I exceed any of the posted speed limits. Additionally, they would not allow me to submit my companies report stating as much. Hopefully the corrupt (strong possibility) are held accountable for their actions one day, but even then they've already caused so much damage to the public it really won't make a difference to the individuals they've already taken advantage of.
