Anita Lichterman in the Building Department is the absolute best! She makes the permit process a breeze! She really goes above and beyond with every permit application ( there's an abundance of applications a year) Thank you so much for all your hard work!

There are many things to love about Wilmette. It's a beautiful, tree lined village with a vibrant downtown and easy access to the city. However, the constant sounds of demolition and the destruction of historic homes and trees is horrible. We have huge trucks driving down our brick street daily, and really, hourly. It's incredibly disruptive and also concerning because it seems like Wilmette doesn't care that they are selling the whole town to greedy developers. We got 30 days " notice on the demolition of the house next door and what ensued was a 10 month nightmare of noise and violations. The resulting new house is a huge, horrific eyesore that does not fit in with the neighborhood aesthetic and is too big for the lot. If Wilmette doesn't stop this, the whole village will be ruined.

Our experience working in Wilmette, especially with the local Building Department, has been exceptionally positive. At Chi Renovation, we found the Wilmette Building Department's team to be highly professional, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. Their thorough understanding of both the latest building codes and the village's distinctive architectural style greatly aided in seamlessly integrating our project into the local landscape. The department's efficient processes and clear communication helped in navigating the regulatory aspects smoothly, allowing us to focus on delivering high-quality work. Wilmette's commitment to maintaining its architectural integrity while embracing modern development is commendable. We're eager to undertake more projects in this beautiful village.
