Very beautiful and historic courthouse. The architecture alone is enough to make a visit

This review is not on the services or personnel found at the courthouse but on the building itself. Several historical markers and a war memorial can be found at the courthouse. (Another one right across the street speaks of the Boycott of 1966). The original courthouse was built here in 1845: did not see anything on the construction of the current building. One Marker is for Claiborne County and reads: Established on January 27th, 1802, by the first General Assembly, Claiborne Country was the fourth county organized in the Mississippi Territory. Carved from Jefferson County (formerly Pickering Country), of the Old Natchez District, the county was named for William C.C. Claiborne, who served as the second governor of the territory. A small marker, Clairborne County Courthouse, reads: Market Street at Orange. 1845 Beaux-Arts Classicism The original two-story brick courthouse was constructed in 1845. The Confederate Monument occupies a small portion of the site of the orginal Greek Revival jail.
