So so so RUDE. Repeatedly asking me the same question after I gave the same response as if I was going to change what I was saying. Then proceeded to be snarky and refuse to explain anything or try to help me in any way. I even called back the next day in hopes that maybe I was having an off day or maybe a new person would be available to help. No, same woman same attitude same BS. This was the marriage license division. I then called the Charleston county probate and received excellent help and advice. Train your employees better or don't let them interact with the public

Very rude and unhelpful. To think, you are dealing with people who are in bereavement and you can’t muster up any empathy for what your customer may be going through. I can only pray that God touch your hearts. The two people that helped or shall I say barely assisted me today 8/23/24 should not work with the public at all especially not grieving people. So very sad, and from the ratings, it looks as though no one cares to make corrections. Town of friendly people. Really?

It really sucks that it is so hard to ask questions or even get a call back from someone. Dealing with probate is hard enough, and they don’t make it any easier. I called with a question and the lady who answered was extremely rude and just transferred me in the middle of speaking. The person did not answer so I had to leave a message literally begging her to call me back and its urgent, and of course no call back. I live an hour away and the only way I can communicate with anyone is if I physically drive there. Absolutely ridiculous. I’ve made probably 10 trips in 6 months because of this.

I've been working on probate for almost 2 years because I'm not able to get clarification on what some of the documents are asking for. Melissa is the most unprofessional person I've met in my life. She refuses to explain the documents and told me, if I don't understand, I need to get a lawyer. She always barks at me when I call or come by the office but won't explain anything. I've asked her if she knows me from somewhere and if I've done anything to offend her because her angry disposition seems personal. After reading other reviews, I know it's not me. I can't figure out how to make a complaint. People are already dealing with the loss of a loved one and shouldn't have to deal with a mean, angry clerk.

I was appalled at how negative the attitude was over the phone (called in from Arkansas!) back in March and after mailings being rejected, and DRIVING OVER 12 HOURS from Arkansas to handle the matter in person, the rudeness and contempt just escalated. I see from other reviews this seems to be the norm. All of the other offices I dealt with in the area had kind people, servicing the community with kindness, empathy, and efficiency. I called again today (now August) again to see if the probate had been opened for a family member that passed recently, although months ago I was able to give the name and be told yes or no, now today they said they don't do that - being incredibly short even when I explained I had some internet limitations and just needed a yes or no answer. What is the problem in this office??
