Staff was rude and short with me, but I was able to get birth certificates in less than 10 minutes!

Called the Health Department in regards to a birth certificate I ordered for my newborn son. First I spoke to a receptionist (i'll redact names for the sake of privacy) and explained to her I had not received the Birth Cert. after 6 weeks. She told me it was shipped about 5 weeks ago. I told her I never received it and asked for the tracking information. She said they dont use tracking. On a birth certificate, vital records order, there is no tracking. So now this certificate is somewhere in the world, not in my possession. She says to call the post office, which we know without tracking with be a fruitless exercise. I then offer to come in and pick another one up. She says sure, fill out the paperwork again and pay the fee again, and we can get you one. I said I didnt think it made a lot of sense for me to pay again since I had already paid once and never got it. She said "we cant control the mail, thats not our problem". I said mam, neither can I. She then puts me on hold and about 5 seconds later im speaking with a new woman, unbeknownst to me. After asking who she was and why I was transfered, she informed me she was the registrar and wasnt exactly sure why we were speaking. I gave her the short version of my issue for times sake and much to my surprise, she agreed it was simply not their problem and with another form and some more money they would be happy to get me a new one. She also explained to me they offer mailing the certificates as a convenience but are not responsible for the outcome. I said mam, if you ordered something from Amazon and it never came, would you just buy it again or would you expect Amazon to resolve. She said " I dont shop with amazon so I dont know..." I said well mam pick your favorite store. You buy something from them, do you expect to receive what you ordered? She informed me that "she doesnt shop". I then asked her for her boss which she informed me was Jason Lemaster the County Administrator. I asked to be transferred to him. she agreed, but he did not answer. My concern lies less with the cost of ordering another document. The concern is around the disrespect and unprofessionalism I was met with, when simply trying to exhaust my ONLY option for receiving my newborn child's birth certificate. The cost for the county to reprint this certificate is likely a few cents. The cost for me to pay again for something I never received is $20.96. Just a very poor experience and the lack of ownership and responsibility the county took, over something that will cost them virtually nothing to resolve, is disappointing.

Been coming here for years for my daughters vaccinations. They get us in quickly and remind us when vaccines are due. The staff are friendly and the vaccination clinic hours are convenient for us. I like them. Much better to deal with that the fishers health dept.

The staff here is very friendly. In particular, the beautiful female staff member who translated my daughter's vaccination record today was truly kind. She caught up with what I wanted in my poor English. She used a translator to pass on all the information I needed in Korean. If there's any way I could recommend her as a excellent staff member, I'd love to.
