My fiancé and I went to the HCCO on August 8th 2025 to apply for a marriage license for an actual ceremony scheduled for early next year. We had a clerk to assist us with the required registration. There for 30 minutes answering questions and providing a $81 administrative fee when the clerk informed us that the marriage license was good for 90 days of issuing the license. The wedding date should have been the FIRST question she should have asked. While the supervisor was apologetic she was dismissive concerning our frustrations. Very frustrating experience that caused us this annoyance and further work for the supervisor and clerk that had to refund me the $81. ASK THE RIGHT QUESTIONS FROM THE BEGINNING.

I came in today regarding a court matter after previously calling and being told I could come by to get everything set up. When I arrived, Marcella at the front desk immediately questioned me in a very rude and dismissive tone, repeatedly asking who specifically told me to come in and saying “there’s six of us here, so who was it?” I explained that I didn’t know the person’s name, which shouldn’t have mattered considering my case number could easily confirm the information. Once she finally looked up my case, it turned out exactly as I said. I then politely asked about the estimated wait time and was brushed off completely. While waiting, both my fiancée and I noticed Marcella staring at me in an extremely uncomfortable way. What made the interaction more upsetting was that another family came in shortly after, and they were treated far more kindly and attentively. They were not questioned or spoken to the way I was. I understand courthouse staff deal with many people every day, but professionalism and basic respect should be consistent for everyone. Do better lady, you work at a clerks office.
