Greg Geiger is a very incompetent individual. His removal from ionia clerk couldn't happen fast enough. Very unprofessional attitude. Even one of his co workers in the court house chuckled in agreement when I pointed out he was a buffoon. Do the tax payers a favor greg. Get off the welfare, and get a job.

Due to some of life circumstances, I needed to visit the Ionia County Clerks office. I am originally from Ionia but currently live an hour away. It had been quite a few years since i had visited Ionia County's beautiful and historic courthouse. From the moment I entered the building, everyone who worked there was very helpful. The officer at the entrance was polite and helped me with some directions within the building. The woman at the customer clerk's office was very polite and friendly. I called the clerk's office before I went there, to be sure I would have everything I needed for my request. She was attentive, courteous, and informative; letting me know exactly how and when my paperwork would be processed. And as promised... It was. Thank you my hometown. And THANK YOU Ionia County Clerks office.

Minimal effort to he helpful. They will take your money, but expect to waste a couple trips before they work up the will to put a stamp on a piece of paper. They will make up an excuse to get you to schedule an appointment on a day that you have to take off work because thats when the person with motivation will be in. Apparently there is only one day a week that they can be helpful. And its never today. Same experience the last several times I have had to visit.

I called today to get information about obtaining a marriage license. I spoke with Stephanie, who was so utterly rude and dismissive she couldn't be bothered to help me. I have never been married, so I don't think it's too much to ask for some details regarding the process. When I asked her to clarify, she repeated the exact same thing, instead of trying to explain further, and hung up. I wish we didn't have to get a license from this county.

The inefficiency of this office is astounding. They are unable to complete basic tasks that are legitimately part of their jobs. Moving from Kent County to Ionia has been extremely unpleasant because this office makes even simple necessary things impossible to complete. They should be ashamed.
