I called to get my marriage license appt. Called on a friday at 4:21 pm. They close at 4:30. I apologized for calling last minute but I work overnights so i had just woken up. The lady was a you know what! Oh my gosh! I have NEVER been treated so rude, especially by someone who is funded by our tax dollars. The lady was making quite a few slick comments that were annoying me. "When you get here have all your stuff ready. I am tired of people looking up the address and phone number of the officiant" I looked at my fiance like oh she is gonna be rude. And sure enough. She asked for my name. I gave it to her. She made some smart alec comment about not having a last name. "Travis.......okay do you not have a last name or do you just not know it" so I gave it to her, spelt out bc she would butcher it. She asked for my fiances name and I spelt there too bc she would butcher that. And in middle of spelling the 6 letters, she screamed, "JUST SAY IT! I DO NOT NEED YOU TO SPELL IT OUT! JUST SAY THE NAME!!!!!" Oh i was mad. I told her she is going to knock it off with the attitude and I wanted her name. She said. "JENNY! Yup thats right! My name is Jenny!" I honestly dont think thats her name but I will find out. My phone records all incoming and outgoing calls. I ended up making the appointment at a different county bc I dont want to give money to a garbage human like that. I suggest you also look at the other county clerks in the area. If you had a bad experience like this, especially from this woman, id suggest you file a complaint with the county administrator Jane Klekamp. Also you can submit a public service complaint to the La Crosse County board of supervisors. People like this woman do not need to be working in a public office meant to serve the community..
