I have never had a problem until today. Apparently you have to now make an appointment to renew your driver's license after 12PM. HOWEVER there is literally only 1 phone line and I quote "its busy and they are really hard to get ahold of, you just have to keep trying." Are you freaking kidding me?! How can that even work. I dont have all day to sit around and try and get through. Absolutely absurd and ridiculous. Fix your broken system. I got things to do also!

I think it’s time we talk about county clerks—not just in LaRue, but everywhere. Over the past two days, I’ve worked 20 hours each day. Despite that, I had an opportunity to swing by and pick up a special license plate my wife ordered, which has been ready for a while. But guess what? I couldn’t. An hour of my life wasted. Why? Because the fines for owning vehicles was due 12 days ago and needed to be paid before I picked up a plate that had been paid for on a vehicle that had the fine for owning it already paid for. Here’s the kicker—my wife actually came in to pay those taxes before they were due. She wrote a check for the total they gave her… except that wasn’t actually the total. Turns out, there was another total, and she only brought one check. Ofcourse While we’re on the subject, let’s talk about why the cost of owning a vehicle has skyrocketed over the last three years. Two years ago, they significantly increased fees. Last year, they introduced a new system (not just in LaRue), and it pulled up nearly every vehicle I’ve ever owned for over 20 years. They even tried to make me pay taxes on a boat I sold before I left the Amish—20 years ago! It’s not just the tax increases; it’s the constant taking more and more. And here’s a real gem: I’ve had lifetime plates on my big trailers for years. I was told that if I paid for the more expensive plate, I wouldn’t have to pay taxes on it annually. But wouldn’t you know it—last year, they changed their tune. Nope, that’s not a thing anymore. Now, I still have to pay taxes on it. And let’s not forget the inconsistencies. Every county seems to have its own set of rules. There’s no uniformity—what’s enforced in one place is completely different in another. It’s a mess. Where's the money going? The roads are crap. The infrastructure is crap.

The folks at the Larue County Clerk are incredible! I have a 49 year old motorcycle that I’ve had for 16 years, through five moves in multiple states, lord knows where I put my paperwork. What I’ve heard is how daunting that this was gonna be. Not so Rhonda and the others up front jumped in and got it done! Boom license plate and title handled. Thanks again for Always being such an amazing group of people. Also a shoutout to Annette in the Sheriff’s Office for coming out and helping me as well. I’ve lived in a lot of places but Larue County you are blessed with these great people!!!!
