My son was born 3 weeks prematurely and spend a month in the hospital due to a blood infection. He was taking Emfamil Gentlease the whole time he was up there. He was doing fine until we got him on WIC. We saw a nurse who informed us that she wouldn't give us the formula we wanted instead she wanted him to try another kind. Why she wanted to do that I'll explain later. I thought hey shes a nurse might as well listen to her what a the worse that can happen? Well it turns out this was the calm before the storm. My son REFUSED to eat the formula. His blood dr and baby dr BOTH wrote numerous prescriptions for the formula he was on in the hospital. Finally I thought I made progress when I got a call saying they were going to change it. But to my surprise the lady over the phone said she wanted him to try another formula and the "drs didnt know what they were talking about and she knew what was best for my son." I hung up the phone in shock and disgust. Why she thought she knew what was best is beyond me. She also told me to mix the Gerber formula(the one they gave us) and the enfamil together. I told her that doing that method would be ridiculous and she proceeded to tell me that "it wasnt her issue." I tried to let it go but after TWO MONTHS of fighting with them my mother in law went up there while I was in school and saw another nurse whom I've never met. She changed his formula right when my MIL told her the story. I eventually called up there to complain about her and I was told that I wasn't the first person to call about the said nurse. I did receive a call from the person in charge. She was extremely kind and answered all my questions. I asked her why they denied prescriptions and she was telling me about how the state stepped in and changed everything. Apparently you have to try two of the three formulas they offer. I told her about how me and my mother in law weren't aware about that and she apologized. The reasons why I'm upset is the lack of communication and the rudeness. I understand they have their hands tied but it's no excuses to tell me they know what best for my son. Also there isnt a reason why she couldnt tell me what was happening with the state since that isn't they're fault. Since they are rude and have zero communication skills I do not reccomend this place at all. It took me 2 months for them to wake up and it was stressful.
