December 16, 2020 I’ve been handling my mother’s estate over the last year and trying to juggle work and handle this has been time consuming to say the least and has not been easy. I just thank the lord that my judicial assistant that was assigned to me was Ms. Blackwell. She has been so helpful and understanding and easy to talk with during this difficult time. The Probate court system in Laurens SC should be very happy to have someone like her on there staff because there is not enough people like her in these positions. If you look hard enough you can spot a person with a kind heart. So thank you Laurens probate court system for assigning her to assist me during this tough time in my life.

I am notary. The clients live in Laurens County. The front desk' lady in Marriage License Department asked them for social number, for driving license. WHY????? The law said they just need proof of residence in Lauren's County as rental paper or any utility bills and ID that could be a passport. What happen with the people who doesn't want to do a good job? If you are working there you have to know the rules so you can help when the people need it. The rules, said this: Proof of residence in North Carolina or South Carolina (rent, electricity, water, gas, telephone or similar payment receipt). A valid official identification and proof of residence from 4 adult witnesses (the parents of the contracting parties cannot/may not be witnesses) Please, do it a good job Thank you.

I turned in the paperwork on my mother’s small estate 6-3-24. They have still not looked at it as of today 1-29-25. I have been told the social worker has her hands full because she also handles mental health and they ask for her expertise on large probate with issues. Basically they look at small probate as a nuisance and will work it in as they see fit. Google SC small probate and it says it should only take 30 to 90 days once the paperwork is filed to complete.
