Daniel Berens has been an excellent primary care provider. He’s easy to work with, takes the time to genuinely listen, and makes sure every concern is fully addressed. I’ve always felt heard and supported during my visits. Highly recommend.

I needed to see a provider today in Spearfish where i live. My usual provider is in Rapid City. But I did not want to wait to be seen. So my husband and I went to the Monument Health Spearfish Clinic and were immediately informed of the Same Day Appointment. The assistant took all my info and I was seen within 5 minutes. My RN was friendly, organized and very efficient. He reviewed the routine and completed my vitals and info. The CNP came in within 5 minutes and listened to my report of symptoms. I felt much more relieved and supported as he examined the problem. He spoke with us about a plan of care and future treatment. I am extremely pleased with the Same Day Appointment staff and results. Thank you so much. I will share my feelings with others and return to the clinic as needed. No other clinic has offered such prompt and high qualify care.

We came for my 4 year old possibly having a uti. Our primary doctor was not there on this day. The nurse who greeted us and took our initial information was so friendly and definitely made my child feel comfortable to be there. She was wonderful. However, after urine analysis, we got a nurse practitioner. I don’t think she even made eye contact with either us upon entering and immediately sitting down asking if I had examined my son privates. Letting her know I had, especially for urine analysis, she said “good, it will save him the embarrassment”. Typing away not making any efforts to engage with us, told me a medication and that he’d take it twice a day. I had to ask what the medication was and time frame to take it. She said every 12 hrs. Upon getting my son’s prescription for his mild uti, the instruction clearly state to take it orally 4x a day. Although I am very understanding that everyone has “off” or bad days, this experience left me feeling disappointed. It kept replaying in my head and feeling upset about the service we received.

I had a very frustrating experience at urgent care with CNP Kelsey Laska. During my visit, she recommended placing an IV. I explained that I have difficulty with IVs and tried to communicate what typically helps (such as using a hot pack and which arm works best). After one unsuccessful attempt, she stopped and told me she would document that I was “refusing” the IV, which was not accurate I was trying to cooperate and offer helpful information based on past experiences. Additionally, I requested a doctor’s note for two days since I’ve been dealing with vomiting for a week and was still feeling unwell. I also explained that I work as a waitress, so returning to work the next day while still sick did not feel appropriate. She declined and only provided a note for one day, stating I would need to return to urgent care the next day for reassessment if I needed more time. This felt unreasonable given the circumstances. Overall, I left feeling unheard and misrepresented in my care. I’ve never had this problem at this urgent care before, which made the experience even more disappointing. Absolutely ridiculous. I would also like to add that the stuff she added in my after summary notes that i just viewed weren’t even 100% accurate. She didn’t ask about my pain level or headaches or about how the iv situation went exactly. Didn’t go over my urine sample with me.
