  I phoned the probate court, this morning, requesting info / clarification re: a case. A young lady named GINA answered. I told her what I needed and provided the case #. She was rude and answered my questions with uh huh. In what world is that professional. She definitely needs customer service training; Yes, no is appropriate when dealing with the public. She was also a bit too quick answering my questions, as a sassy teen would be (and she’s probably far from a teen). Once hanging up, I had another clarifying question and called back. A woman named Rocky answered the phone. I told her I’d just spoken to Gina. She placed me on hold. She came bk basically saying Gina wasn’t going to talk to me, because she’d already given me the answer. REALLY, ok, WOW! Gina, customer service is your freakin job! Get another, if you can’t handle, sitting at your desk providing information. Rocky at first seemed to hv allowed her coworkers energy to transfer to her. Booo! I told her, I lived in California and had been dealing with this issue since August and wanted to ensure nothing else was required. She placed me on hold and came back with a professional attitude and response. Thx, Rocky. I’m just trying to make sure all my ducks were finally in a row. GINA, get your act together. That office is not high school. The 1 star is for Gina’s attitude, and child like behavior. **I left a previous 1 star for the woman, Rhonda, that answers the court phone. Today, the 2 times, I called back, she stated, probate court, gave her name and was very pleasant. I appreciated that. She gets 4 stars. I’d like to think, my review, which somehow is no longer seen here helped. What ever it was I like it. Professionalism for the win! Folks don’t understand how important it is to be professional, at all times, at work.

  Beautiful building, but dealing with the death of a loved one is always unpleasant. But, one clerk, Gina Palagano, treated me discourteously. She couldn't be bothered to look at me while speaking to me, asked me to answer the same question multiple times at different points in our conversation, but cut me off several times before asking "who told you to come here?" Fortunately, I've had time to accept and learn to live with the loss, as it's taken the court eighteen months to resolve a simple estate. It was unnecessarily upsetting, and I can't imagine having to deal with an experience immediately after his passing.

  If you are working in a position, SERVING the public, who pays your salary, you might want to consider being a little more kind. I am a teacher of many years and understand that it can be tough working with people but never would I willingly treat any of the students or families that I meet with anything less than respect. Upon leaving this court today, I received an unnecessary remark from a Youngstown Police officer at the door. I kindly asked which door to use to exit upon leaving the building. There are multiple sets with the police officers located at the middle set with equipment to scan you and your belongings. In this country today, and the unnecessary deaths taking place, I don’t want to do ANYTHING that may cause an altercation between myself and a police officer. And that’s why I kindly asked which exit I should use. His snide, unnecessary response was, “This isn’t Walmart, ma’am.” Just use the doors. I believe that his job is partially to make sure the public knows what to do and where to go when entering and exiting the court. That statement was rude and pointless, especially when it would be just as easy to say, “Oh, that one there. Have a great day.” I will never use this court again if possible.

  I am so grateful for the Probate Court of Mahoning County, in particular Kylie (Deputy Clerk). We all know that dealing with a loss and the aftermath that occurs sometimes later, is difficult. The Probate Court, as am I, are so incredibly grateful for employees like Kylie, and the help they give us in locating documents that are years in the past, yet needed today. I thank you the PROBATE Division of Mahoning County, Ohio.
