I just spoke with Blare, a worker at DHHS, and he was extremely helpful and delightful to talk with. He even had a sense of humor! And he listened carefully to my 3 requests and fulfilled my them promptly. In general, DHHS is very helpful in providing me with assistance with food and money so I can live comfortably (if not lavishly). I know its not enough for many people to survive on...and I understand those persons' frustrations, and the temptation to blame the DHHS workers... (and a few can be rude...but can't we all.) So understanding and restraint on both sides would be helpful.

I find it absolutely disturbing that adults at this office would feel as though it's in the best interest of a 9 year old little girl to be living at an all male sober house. I've known people who had to go to a place like that before and they were Court ordered to go so I would think statically wise that it wouldn't be possible for everyone in that house to pass background checks and that's what this office feels is in best interest of a little girl to live and be around men trying to stay sober ?

Does anyone work there that will actually answer a phone? Twice they lost paperwork and now my food stamps are closed?? Thank you wonder woman in Augusta! This division has sunk deeper than the ocean with you in office then ever before.

Update as of 2023 previous review is 5 years ago: a bunch of mess ups, you cannot call them, one person seems to do the walk ins, my maine connection is NOT user friendly and requires certain accesses to finish the process. Dhhs literally doesn't do reviews so no matter what you always end up coming to sit inside for hours...they say 6 months reviews but you tend to get then every 2 months..sometimes with people unaware Someone is getting in huge trouble for false information in the system! This is the 3rd time it's happened to me!! Rockland has always done this, I've never had this problem in any other office even with physical proof that you hand the person and they STILL don't enter it in the system. Not only that but child support is crooked as we all know. Mothers that don't have custody don't get tracked down as hard for child support.

Wait times are better than they used to be and they are usually very helpful going in person.. The phone line is awful though. You wait 30 minutes to an hour to speak to someone, and sometimes they have to transfer you to someone else which is another long wait. 3 times that I've called them I've also waited about a half an hour just for the line to disconnect. I've also talked to other people who have had this problem so I don't believe it's my phone that is the issue..
