Mike Roat stopped the mysterious disappearance of charges, judgements, and documents by digitizing records with off-site backup. That ended a lot of funny business in the Mason County Courthouse. There are people who don't like that. It was a step that should have been taken years earlier. They are also very welcoming to people searching old records for family history. Genealogy is probably the number one reason tourists come to Mason County.
