Came here to get a birth certificate for my son. The front desk lady was so sweet and helpful. They were quick to process our request and we received his certificate in 15 minutes.

Absolute trash. Dropped off my child’s birth certificate to be amended (with what the website led me to believe was all the necessary forms - I even had to have one form notarized). I got a letter in the mail SIC MONTHS later stating that because their wait time is so long (through no fault of my own) that they were unable to accept the notarized form and that I would have to go through the process all over again…. Yeah right, so I can wait another 6 months? Meanwhile, they have the only copy of my child birth certificate in existence. As a minor, that is his only form of identification and we can’t even get any other forms of identification without it. It’s absolutely irresponsible.

I had a smooth service and the font desk lady, before you go upstairs and security people were so helpful and sweet. Made a difficult situation easy. The gentlemen at the vital desk had excellent customer service. Thank you all for the work and dealings with difficult folks.

Unless you're picking up for a newborn this is not the place to pick up your birth certificate. You need to go to 800 NE Oregon St., Room #225 Portland, OR 97232. Its only 5 minutes away by car but it frustrates me that I dont see that on their page. Dont make the same mistake I did is all

I called for a basic question not giving any info or asking for it. I simply needed to know if after a death if someone makes an appointment or mail in a request if that is okay before six months. It says right in your recording to go that route for recent so it’s public knowledge but I wanted verification before doing so. Your employee doesn’t listen and speaks over you when trying to explain because for some reason she didn’t understand but wanted to push back for not listening to the request. Poor communication skills, poor service. She said no I can’t tell you because it’s not for you. Ummmm pretty sure you can answer a timeline question that is state wide policy on when and when you can go about things. Not once was anyone’s info stated it was simple “if someone died recently are we able to still get the certificate soon or have to wait six months” A one second yes or no turned into back and forth frustration. Ridiculous to have someone with such low interpersonal skill and lack of compassion in an office of death certificates. She refused to let me speak to supervisor.
