I just called the Assessor's Office. I don't know about you but I PAY their salary and I have never been treated so badly. The woman basically sounded as if she couldn't be bothered with answering any of my questions and practically hung up on me. I cannot believe I pay taxes to this town. And don't get me started on the roads. OMG!!! I have never seen roads as bad as the ones in South Hadley. Should we all just stop paying taxes until the roads get fixed and we are treated like human beings????

Personally i think they care less about helping and more about collecting "their" money. Not very kind over the phone. They seem rather annoyed answering questions. I received a call from a man aggressively saying "I would have hell to pay" if i didnt pay an excise tax i wasn't aware I had. No problem paying it, i just didn't appreciate how he had handled it. Generous 2 star rating.

When moving into S Hadley from out-of-state, I visited there and had such a great experience. The Town Clerk’s office and the Assessor’s Office (Carlene Hamlin, Sarah Geimner, Melissa Couture, and Maureen Cronin) were super nice and welcoming. So was Kristin Maher in the Administrator’s Office. They all gave me several referrals to other services in town and helped our moving in go so much smoother. If you are relocating to S. Hadley, stop there early – they are a great resource, make you feel so welcome, and will save you many headaches. Thanks ladies!

This town is the most dysfunctional town I've ever lived in. Garbage pickup every two weeks? Special bags? Solid waste has been closed for years? Nearby towns, which are now taking all of South Hadley's waste must be up in arms. Roads are awful but they're building pickle ball courts? Staff at Town Hall are the unfriendliest bunch of people I've ever met. They seem angry ALL THE TIME, which is more a reflection of the Town Administrator, Lisa Wong and her Board of Selectpeople. Dysfunction just covers the surface. I'm sure there's more dirt down there.

I love this town, but why are we one of the last towns to make a decision about school closings/delays? And today, 12/16/24, we're the only town in the area not having a delay. I'd be upset if I still had school age children, and I certainly wouldn't want to be a school bus driver.
