The First Lady I spoke with was a little eccentric but still nice and professional. Then, I came in again another time. I finished my paperwork but had a quick question about one one of the fields. This other lady rolled her eyes, quickly snapped an answer at me, and left me sitting there... She literally just got up and left me there while I was trying to turn in my paperwork. 15 minutes pass, and a different employee walked up and asked if I was done... Not so sure what was so important to get up and leave me there, but I hope it was taken care of. Didn't even give me a reason, just up and left me.

Continued disappointment. As a former trainer of customer service and time management skills I give people an opportunity to get out of the hole they put themselves in. The lack of tact and rudeness I experienced with trying to talk to the woman, who did not identify herself, at the Whatcom County Health Department was true to these offices in this county. Why bother to make an effort to report serious health concerns? It’s a waste of time, they’re useless.

Want to report food poisoning? No one will ever call you back. Call again, no one will call you back. Many of the employees answer the phone with "Hello", not even the name of the department. The woman I was transferred today to ask a simple question was hostile, confrontational and hung up on me mid sentence. Disgusting that our taxes pay these folks salaries.

Our health department is useless. A woman who picks up the phone never introduces herself. She is not helpful, unprofessional, lied about rules and regulations, lied about who I needed to contact and was VERY rude. The issue was: food safety violations due to animal presence. And our taxes go to support this Department?

****UPDATE**** I went the next day a little bit earlier to submit form for birthday certificate. Sara (or Sarah?) was the person that helped me out at the front desk. And oh man oh man, she was by far one of the nicest and sweetest individuals ever. Smiling, respectful, courteous, generous, and just caring. We laughed about my signature cuz it was so bad lol. She was able to help me a lot. I got an amazing eta on the birth certificate that really helped! The experience day ago was not good. But today was awesome. I am convinced there are individuals here who are amazing. Maybe I just ran into someone that is not amazing or maybe, realistically, they were just having a bad day yesterday. Whatever it is, my experience today was much much better. Rating this a 3 now instead of a 1! *Initial visit*: I don’t usually leave negative reviews for people, because it’s whatever. But this interaction I had recently with this place is absolutely upsetting. We just had a newborn and we’re kinda on the edge trying to get everything done, I try my best to be as respectful and nice to people as possible because I’m on no sleep. I come in asking questions about the birth certificate order form, I was just trying to drop it off which filled before hand and just had to submit a check. They said that They can’t accept it because I didn’t bring my ID. that’s not a problem for me, I can just come back again give ID. But if I ask you questions about how to do it or if there’s online options, and you’re going to be rude to me, there’s something wrong with you and you need to go check yourself in the mirror and see if you should be working this job or not. I arrive here at 4:25, they closed the doors at 4:27, someone came here to submit paperwork and it was not even 430, and he couldn’t get inside because it was already locked. I see that the average reviews are pretty low for this place, Bellingham needs to do something about this ASAP. This is not OK. Hopefully, next time when I come to drop off the paperwork, I get someone who is respectful, if I get a chance to bring this up with someone who can do something about it, I am definitely going to do that. This is not acceptable, I even confronted them saying that you’re not being respectful in the way your speaking to me, is that because I showed up very late in the day, if I come earlier, are you going to be more respectful, and she said that she’s not being rude and she’s just telling me what I’m asking for, I’m not five years old. I know when someone is being rude. You can argue that I’m sleep till five and on the edge, so maybe she wasn’t being rude and it was just me, what about the next person who tried to come here at 4:27 to drop something off, why were the doors locked three minutes before. Why are there so many negative reviews on Google reviews, this is not just me, this is all of Bellingham thinking this place is messed up
