Went to Town Managers office and was ignored and not welcomed. Stood there for 20 mins before I could get any service and once I did the lady who failed to identify was really rude. I don’t understand why they are so mean and nasty. We need to Vite these government officials out because they don’t hold there staff accountable.

I can not speak to the village government or the rest of the Town Government, but my interaction with the Assistant Town Clerk Carol was nothing but positive and accommodating. Carol was very professional!! I offer 5 stars to her. Follow-up after 2 hours: Charlie, the actual Town Clerk, did call me back about some documents I needed (marriage license copy). He is Carol’s boss, and he was no where as accommodating. In the day of electronics, his only response was for us to drive 4 hrs to Woodstock, VT or mail letters by snail mail to request a copy (with $10) and hope for a response weeks later!! Very disappointed he was unable to help us out of immediate Dilemma!!! Naturally I would of been glad to send $20 for the convenience!!

Comically bad experience with two women in Town Clerk's office when seeking marriage license -- were virtually ignored and told it would take multiple weeks for a 2-minute data entry process. No alternative process exists, you can't start the application in advance online or via mail. Go to Hartford Town Office instead!

Town clerk was awful and rude, would not allow us to get a marriage license. He said it would take many weeks, when it took 10 minutes when we went to the town clerk a town over. Vermont state law has no waiting period for a marriage license so not sure why the clerk here claims it takes weeks.

I don’t even recognize the friendly and helpful people I interact with at the Town clerk’s office, as I did this morning, in these reviews. I deal with them for many things, dump and recycling stickers and coupons, dog license, etc. It is true that I have never applied for a marriage license, but I would not hesitate to go to them if I wanted one!
