The architecture of this courthouse is really cool and unique. It breaks away from the typical squared courthouses that you normally see.

Very beautiful courthouse. Very well maintained. Description The Edgar County Courthouse, located in Paris, Illinois, is the county courthouse of Edgar County. The courthouse was constructed from 1891 until 1893; it is the third building to be used as Edgar County's courthouse. Architect Henry Elliot designed the building in the Romanesque Revival style.

I absolutely love this building. It is one of May favorites to visit and look at the architecture. Unbelievably beautiful. It has a tunnel to the jail. Don't forget Abraham Lincoln practiced law at that location in the old courthouse. The historical society has a boatload of information and you should go check it out.

Romanesque-Revival style, the Edgar County Courthouse looks like a fancy wedding cake. It was designed by architect Henry Eliot of Chicago and was constructed from 1891 to 1893. At the top is a galvanized steel and zinc sheet metal-clad, tiered bell and clock tower topped with a copper dome. The tower and dome are topped by a "Lady Justice" statue. The courthouse's exterior has four main sides and four entrances situated between each adjacent pair of sides. Each side includes two towers at each end and a central section with a tall gable. It's a stunning structure located at the center of Paris. Don't miss out on this and if you're able to do a tour, please do!
