I called and was told hold before I could even get a word out.I waited a hour on hold and nobody ever came back to the call. This is not the way to conduct business.

Upon first entering the facility, it appears to be clean, orderly, and not crowded at all. There are several informative posters about breastfeeding, STD testing, and proper hand-washing techniques. This is great! It gives the feeling that these people know what they are doing and are ready to assist you. This may or not be true, but I will never know due to the INSANELY and highly inconvenient wait to be seen. I had an appointment for 8:45am, which had been previously cancelled due to "poor weather conditions", and arrived at 8:30am. I waited about a half hour to be interviewed about my insurance information and fill out paperwork and when I went to do my urine sample, there was another cup of urine in the collection box that appeared to have sat in there for a while. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! After waiting another 30-45min, I was called to the back to be examined by the nurses (you know; blood pressure, weight, height, another health history interview) and was told to go back to the lobby and wait to be seen because "all the exam rooms were full". They didn't look full to me. As a matter of fact, the whole work area for the nurses and exam rooms look pretty empty and were very quiet, so I don't understand why there was even a wait. Nonetheless, I went back to the lobby expecting to be seen promptly because I HAD an appointment. There should be NO reason why I should have to wait more than an hour to be seen. Emphasis on the word SHOULD, but I thought wrong because I was still waiting to be seen at 11 o'clock. Finally being fed up, I simply walked out of the office and got something to eat and proceeded to write this review. I have been to this facility once or twice before with the same wait almost, but with no appointment. Personally, I feel this is a part of the reason the STD rates are so high and untreated in Natchitoches because in the words of Sweet Brown, "Ain't nobody got time for that". I also feel that unprofessional wait is due to the fact that many of the people that come to be seen don't have any money and are uninsured. I hope this review draws the right attention and eventually causes change at the Natchitoches Parish Health Unit because these people and myself do not deserve to spend all day when we have work, school, children and many other priorities to be handled. P.S. this appointment was non-STD related, it was just a regular annual woman check up. Nothing complicated.
