My Husband and I went to the clerks office to get new passports and let me tell you it was fast and easy. The staff was very knowledgeable, efficient and very pleasant to work with. Highly recommend going there for passports or any other services that they provide. 10 out of 10 every time. Thank you again to the amazing staff. Appreciate you all.

DONT go here if you’re trying to get your passport. Rude staff, and very unhelpful. We arrived 2 hours before closing (which is at 3!) and we were turned away. I had taken 2 days off of work in order to just process my paperwork that had already been completed and take my picture. Both days we were turned down and told to go to a different location. I asked when the best time is to come in and the lady said “early” and I asked what time they stop which I got a response of “we don’t know it just depends”. I don’t understand how people who have jobs will ever be able to get what they need FROM THEIR LOCAL GOVERNMENT OFFICE if they turn you down to their convenience.

We visited this passport office last month to get a passport for our baby girl. Since it was the closest location that accepted walk-ins, we weren’t sure what to expect. From the moment we arrived, we were met with kindness and professionalism. Georgia Baggett greeted us and was incredibly helpful and thoughtful. After signing in, she overheard my wife and I talking about my need to return to work soon. Without hesitation, she went above and beyond to assist us—something we truly didn’t expect but deeply appreciated. The fact that she took the time to listen and care really meant a lot. She then connected us with Ashlyn Sheppard, who was just as kind and patient—especially with our baby girl, who was a bit fussy during the photo process. Despite the busy office, both Georgia and Ashlyn made us feel seen and supported. While speaking with them, we learned that the office is small but the demand for their services is very high. Based on our experience, it’s clear that the staff would serve everyone quickly and efficiently if they had the resources. They’re doing the best they can, and it shows. If you plan to visit, I recommend coming prepared to wait—pack snacks, be patient, and try to empathize with the staff. We came ready to be there for a while and even brought food to eat in the car while waiting. That mindset made all the difference. All in all, we were extremely grateful for the help we received. While every visit might be different, our experience was a reminder that compassion and effort can make a stressful process feel much more manageable. By the way, we just received our baby girl’s passport, which reminded me to finally leave this review. So thankful for the help we received—God bless!

Upon visiting the passport office, I encountered a pleasant and efficient experience. The staff provided comprehensive guidance throughout the process. Have everything ready before you go in for a smooth experience… For passport applications, the following documents are required: 1. Completed DS-11 form (staff completes the remaining sections) for each applicant. 2. Expired US passport and/or citizenship certificate. (I would take both if possible) 3. State identification (front and back copies) (taken by the office with a fee.) 4. Passport photographs (provided or taken by the office with a fee). 5. Social Security card. 6. A blank check (sent with the application) A second check may be necessary to cover office fees, but credit cards are accepted for fees and processing fee, although Apple Pay is not. The process was smooth, and the staff was friendly and courteous. We were third in line in the morning and completed the application in approximately an hour a little more, with an average of 20-30 minutes per person. Despite negative reviews, I recommend visiting the office. The staff is friendly and professional.

Avoid this place at all costs. Do yourself a favor, make the drive to Rocklin or Roseville, and save yourself the time and frustration. I went to the Sutter County Clerk-Recorder two separate times trying to get passports for my kids, and both trips were a complete waste of time. Their posted closing time is 3:00 PM. On my last attempt, I arrived around 1:30 PM, only to be turned away because they claimed they were at "full capacity" for the day. The ridiculous part? There were only about two people actually waiting inside. It honestly seems like they just don't want to work and use "full capacity" as a convenient excuse to stop helping people. Normal people have jobs, and kids are in school during the day, so closing that early is already incredibly inconvenient. If they are truly maxed out with just a couple of people in the lobby, they need to hire more staff to be able to help more people at the same time. Terrible experience. Save your time and go somewhere else.
