This place is the worst. It's hardly acceptable to call themselves a health department. Every time you come in, there is never anyone in the lobby waiting, yet then your wait time ends up being at least 30+ minutes even with a scheduled appointment. Front desk staff harass you and question your reasons for coming when you have private health insurance. There's been at least several instances when I have come during times when I have an actual scheduled visit that I am informed that supposedly staff is in a meeting. And for what? I mean, there's never any patients in the lobby area and hardly ever I assume are the staff meeting with patients so what are all of your meetings in regards to? Honestly, I have already made several reports on this HD to the Attorney Generals office because every time I leave, I find them more insufferable. I honestly am so grateful but at the same time disappointed that at least I consider myself lucky I don't have to depend on these people because I have my private insurance but I feel bad for those that really don't have a choice but to come here. It's terrible really. Just another reflection I guess of poor oversight on managements part who just don't care enough to get this place together.

9 months and not a single phone call answered, can’t update wic account, they are “short handed” and THEY even miss the phone appointments THEY scheduled.

I hate health departments, I have to go once every few years for finger prints. Staff is always rude and angry. They never smile. When you walk into the building, they make you feel unwelcome. As a healthcare professional in the field 20 years, I always treat my patients with respect and make them feel welcomed.

They are impossible to get a hold of by phone. They will let it ring for literal hours if you don't hang up before then. My wife needs to reschedule an appointment for our son and it was ringing for 1 hour and 47 minutes before she gave up and hung up. I understand it is a government office so you expect it to be crap but really? Almost 2 hours and no one answers the phone at 10am on a Friday?

No one answers calls for the WIC line. If you call the Jackson health dept you get a rude lady who doesn't wait to find out why you're calling & transfers you to the WIC line that rings endlessly. This place is absolutely terrible!! No one cares about the people needing help.
