The hours online say 8:00am to 4:30pm. The hours posted on the entrance door say “Death/Birth Certificates 8:00am to 4:30pm.” I left work early to the health department before closing and arrived at 4:07. The ladies at the desk tried to refuse printing a birth certificate for me. I said “I thought you didn’t close until 4:30?”. “Well we stop printing at 4:00.” “Your door says 4:30.” They reluctantly agreed to process my request, but said they had already turned their printer off and it might take longer than 10 minutes for them to turn it back on. I quickly filled out the form, and it took less than 5 minutes for them to get me my daughter’s birth certificate. I can understand some frustration if I had walked in at 4:29 pm, but refusing service more than 20 minutes before closing is ridiculous.

Most unhelpful stuff I have ever dealt with, mainly Dorthy (?) Doris (?) and Lindsey. Don’t call there if you have any questions about vaccines or pricing. In fact, don’t call there if you need anything because you will get nothing. Macon County Health Department was wonderful, friendly, and helpful!! Start there first if you can!

It’s my second time coming here for a health appointment. I showed up today 6 minutes before my appointment time. There is barely anyone there. Immediately, I am seen by a lady with glasses. She was checking me in and towards the end of it. She said, “My appointment was actually yesterday.” Her demeanor changed as if she is telling me a lie. I asked if we can reschedule. She rescheduled me for later at 1:00pm. She made me question myself. I know she lied to me. My appt. is at 9:30am today. Not yesterday. I called the day before at 12:33pm. I know I’m not mistaken. I wrote it down when I made the appointment. Then asked my husband to take work off for today. And the lady who made my original appointment asked if I wanted to come in today or tomorrow. I told her tomorrow. And she specifically said, “Okay I have you down for 9:30am tomorrow.” So I don’t know why she lied. Think about it. She said my appointment was yesterday. So I have the correct time. But I called at noon yesterday. Why would the lady who originally made my appointment put me down for 9:30am yesterday. If I made the call at noon. And told her I wanted to do it tomorrow. So I can get all my appointments done in one day. I just want to share my odd experience. Luckily, my husband is off. I just need to get checked. Untrustworthy employee.

I have had 3 consecutive visits to the health department and have had a great experience each time. NP Shao Ma & his nursing staff are truly some of the nicest people to work with and have always made me feel extremely comfortable for my visits. It makes all the difference having doctors & nurses that truly care.
