I called the Wayne County Clerk’s Office to ask clarifying questions about my upcoming marriage license appointment, and the interaction was completely unprofessional. The staff member I spoke with was immediately condescending and dismissive. Rather than answering my questions, she repeatedly accused me of not reading the website and implied that I was careless or unprepared. This was incorrect. I had read the website and was simply asking for clarification regarding my appointment type and the timeline for receiving my marriage certificate. I was interrupted multiple times, spoken to in a disrespectful tone, and made to feel incompetent for asking reasonable questions. At no point was I rude or hostile. I was simply trying to ensure I had everything correct before my appointment. This experience was especially concerning given that I have not even visited the office yet. If this is how callers are treated, it raises serious concerns about customer service and professionalism.

Helpful, friendly and for the amount of people being helped while I was there, it was pretty fast. Everyone I talked to from security to the cashier were super helpful and friendly! Thanks for making my trek to the D awesome! People whining on here I think have issues.

I have been blown away at the wonderful, thoughtful service I received from the Wayne Co. Clerk's office staff in vital records, in particular birth records. Excellent communication, follow up and exceptional kindness. Truly wonderful public servants to be proud of, Detroit!

Exceptional service, friendly staff, perfect visit. I needed to get a couple of copies of my marriage certificate and from beginning to end everything was smooth and professional. I made my appointment over the telephone for 8:15am (the office doesn't open until 8am so you can wait in the heated lobby until then). Even if you didn't have an appointment, I think the process was still quick, merely filling out a short form and then sitting in their clean, comfortable waiting area for you number to be called. The people helping you at the window were very friendly, clear and professional. I was in and outof there in maybe 15-20 minutes. I do wish, however, the people working at the window had computer monitors at a comfortable angle! They are standing all day, and hunched over these monitors that are sunk into the counter. This must create alot of neck and back strain! Please please please fix this immediately! Every ergonomics guideline states monitors should be at an angle and height level with the user's eyes.

Honestly, when you think about going to a government building to do paperwork, you think it’s going to be awful and spend all day there. We had our appointments set, but got there early. Had to get multiple certificates and the process was seamless. Every single individual I interacted with was the most helpful, friendliest person. I was shocked by how well everything went. Yes, you need to have some patience, but the whole experience blew me away with how great it all went.
