My 83 year old father waited in line 4 hours in Wilkes County for their covid vaccine clinic only to be turned away. I filled out info online and quickly received call back to schedule him an appt to get the vaccine. April was the one who booked his appt. She was very friendly, compassionate and professional. He had appt 2 days after booking and arrived early expecting to wait. Alexander Health Dept had him in amd out within 20 minutes. The staff were friendly, cheerful and again very professional. Kuddos to you all for handling the task of administering this vaccine proficiently and professionally. I can't say enough or thank you all enough for the care and compassion you showed my father.

Kudos to Alexander County Health Department. Like most of us, I have been hearing of long lines and difficulty getting the Covid-19 inoculation. Not so at the ACHD. They announced Sunday, Jan 3 that they would begin Phase 1b on Monday, Jan 4. I called Monday at 9:30 and left my name and phone number. They called back around 10 am, took my info, and said someone would contact me within 2 days to schedule an appointment. I received a call the next morning just after 9 am. They offered me several appointment times for the next day. I showed up Wednesday at 2:15. They met me at the door and checked me in. The waiting area was very well organized; all wore masks and seating was properly distanced. There were around 10 people waiting. As soon as I finished the paperwork, they collected it and gave me a number; I was now second in line. Right at 2:30, I was escorted to a private room. They checked my name once more, gave me the injection and a card with the vaccination information. They had already scheduled me for the next dose in 22 days. All of this was done in a total of 15 minutes. They wanted me to wait for 15 minutes in case of any adverse reactions. So my total time was 30 minutes that included 15 minutes of observation. ACHD really has it together from the ambiance of the waiting area, the knowledgeable staff, the processing routine, several injection rooms, and plenty of friendly personnel to keep everything moving quickly. WELL DONE!
