The staff is nice but the process itself to get a name change in this county is archaic. They wait up to 30 days for a paper copy of a bci in order to then go to a judge. Meanwhile, you can pop into Hamilton county and have the entire process done in about 25 minutes walking out with copies…

Honestly, I have never been treated so poorly in my life. After numerous times of trying to file online only to be rejected. I walked in there as polite and professional a person could be. The clerks do not want to help you because they want you to hire an attorney. When you ask questions they just make it sound like you’re up to no good. The clerk made me feel like a criminal. My dad passed away with no will or life insurance. I paid for his funeral expenses with credit cards. Now I’m trying to claim the only funds on the table. She finally directed me to the public defender area and said sign in. As I was standing there the public defender walked directly up onto me and was rude because she was so busy. Eventually, I just left with paperwork. Thank goodness I figured it out. These people make too much money to act like this to the public.

Called to ask about getting a specific piece of my birth certificate updated that's typically done through probate court. The lady who answered the phone around noon said "no we don't handle that" and gave me no further guidance as to how to go about this. I'm very lucky I thought to do this: I ended up reaching out to ODH's vitals division to ask for the guidance probate court refused to give me and... it IS something probate court handles. Whoever answered the phone for my call outright lied to me. If it's something that this county in particular will not update, that's what I should've been told. Instead I was sent on a wild goose chase that didn't need to happen. Any kids who happen to be reading this: take notes here- this is a good lesson on the importance of clear communication. Had Montgomery Probate Court just told me straight up "yeah we can't do that in this county"? That would've saved me wasting 2/3 of my breaks at work today trying to figure out how to go about this.

Attorney miller was EXTREMELY RUDE. Couldn’t even carry on a conservation with her without her saying “let me finish”. Never let me even explain what I was calling about. I Had simple questions she could have answered instead of her having diarrhea of the mouth. When I asked her “let me finish” she hung up on me. She has a terrible attitude and probably shouldn’t be working in a resource center if she doesn’t want to actually help ppl. Would give negative stars for her attitude. Would never recommend her.
